11:00am.  Registration begins at Elevation at the CBMR. Registration will remain open through the entire event.

12:00-1:30pm.  First Capacity Building Sessions

1:45-3:15pm.  Second Capacity Building Sessions

3:30-5:00pm.  Third Capacity Building Sessions

2:00-5:00 pm.  Guided Bus Tour:        This tour is designed to acquaint or reacquaint funders with Western Slope issues. Beginning at Mount Crested Butte, this tour will be guided by Dr. Duane Vandenbusche, Professor of History at Western State College. Space is very limited.

Participants will become familiar with the issues that confront nonprofits and local governments throughout Western Colorado, particularly in the areas of Arts and Culture, Health and Human Services and Natural Resource Management.

5:30-7:00pm.   Opening Reception/Networking – everyone attending RPD is invited this event in Crested Butte Town Park.  Appetizers and entertainment. Official Welcome. Conference participants are encouraged to dine and shop in the Town of Crested Butte.

 

Thursday, June 18, 2009

7:00 am.   Registration begins. Breakfast is served.

 

8:15 am.   Morning program begins.  Greeting and introduction to the Western Region; multimedia presentation.Gail Digate, President and CEO of Leadership Learning Systems, Inc, will facilitate the morning session.

 

The morning session will engage participants in learning about practical tools and strategies to enhance inter-sector and cross-sector partnerships and collaborations.  The three goals of this session are:

     1) to provide a framework for discussing ways to strengthen the Western Slope’s nonprofit sector, and

    2) to build relationships that will help organizations come together to address key community issues, and

     3) to help individual nonprofit organizations achieve their missions more effectively. 

 

10:00am. Working groups. Topics of discussion will include community engagement , strategies for practical collaboration, issue analysis, and effective problem solving. 

11:30-11:45 am.   Break

11:45-1:15 pm.   Keynote Luncheon. Keynote speaker Lewis Feldstein, President of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation and co-author of Better Together:  Restoring the American Community

 

1:15-1:30pm. Break

 

1:30-4:00 pm.   Issue Session (divided up into working groups).

The afternoon session will identify ways that nonprofit organizations and their partners from other sectors can come together to leverage their work to achieve stronger outcomes.

In these working groups, participants will build upon the tools, strategies, and themes identified in the morning session and during the lunch keynote speech.  Each breakout session will focus on how effective partnerships and collaborations could improve communities in the seven counties, address specific region-wide issues, or strengthen the nonprofit sector as a whole. 

The discussion and outcomes of each of these discussions will be relevant to improving communities and helping participants (including funders, nonprofits, and others) identify opportunities to achieve greater mission impact for their organization or group. Discussions will include specific issues such as:

  • Health & Wellness
  • Our Communities, Our Economies
  • Cross-Sector Collaboration
  • Building Inclusive Communities
  • Land Use & Housing
  • Youth Issues & Education
  • Energy & Environment

4:00-6:30 pm.   Free time

 

6:30-9:30 pm.   Dine Around Discussion Dinners. Programs will provide topics and engage funders to participate at various locations around Mt Crested Butte and Crested Butte. What is a dine-around? What will we discuss?

8:00-9:15 am.  Breakfast is served. Informal discussion within communities (townships, counties, etc.) around opportunities for innovation and collaboration

9:15-9:30 am.  Break

9:30-10:55 amRoundtable sessions with funders (9:30-9:55; 10:00-10:25; 10:30-10:55)

10:55-11:15 am.  Break

11:15-12:10 pm.  Roundtable sessions with funders (11:15-11:40; 11:45-12:10)

11:30am -- 1:30pm.  Optional boxed lunches available to go. (These must be purchased at the time of registration.)
